Cross, 2005

African mahogany cross with the schools motto carved & gilded on the reverse side, 10' tall, 350 lbs.

Potomac Falls, VA

Solid wood molding was custom profiled and fabricated on both sides of the cross then gilded with 23K gold leaf. The inner frame is fabricated in steel tubing and designed to hold lead shot to counterbalance the figurative carvings weight from leaning the cross forwards when using only two hang points. A custom stain color was applied to match other sanctuary elements, then satin polyurethaned. The installation was included. Corpus made by Edmund in Italy, via Sacred Spaces LLC.
